- you are a leader... in what context?
I am proud of leading my wonderful research group with many talented young scientists. I am happy of having cofounded and now of leading the Schiemann Kolleg to foster the careers of excellent female scientists after their postdoc phase. It is also a pleasure for me to lead the Polymer Path team and many more activities.
- What is most important to you in leading?
Have a vision, let participate, inspire, motivate and enable your team.
- What do you enjoy about it? Why?
I enjoy to celebrate the success of the group and then to define the next goals.
- What were important steps on your way to leadership?
1. Never give up.
2. Think positively.
3. There is always a possibility.
4. Stay as you are.
5. Believe in yourself.
- From your perspective…How does being female contributes to your success in leadership?
I just want to be authentic.
- How does being a scientist contributes to your success in leadership?
As scientists we need imagination, visions, and creativity. And that is what I also use in leadership.
- What tips do you have for young female scientists who want to take a leadership role?
Trust yourself and just do it!
