As Head of Particle Processing I lead around 70 people, who are working in the field of process development & process optimization with the focus on particle processes.
- What is most important to you in leading?
Being authentic and having a genuine interest in people is the best way to create a motivated and powerful team.
- What do you enjoy about it? Why?
In my role I can make a difference – to people, to strategy, to development. Having a perceptible effect on my colleagues and professional environment is a very rewarding experience.
- What were important steps on your way to leadership?
Flexibility and an open mind to try something new helped me to move into various functions. The resulting network, working experience and expertise were important door opener.
- From your perspective…How does being female contributes to your success in leadership?
Maybe it is empathy and intuition that build up reliable relationships and pay off in the end.
- How does being a scientist contributes to your success in leadership?
As a scientist I am used to keep things in perspective. My course of action and decisions are mainly related to facts and figures. This gives me credit and trust from my team.
- What tips do you have for young female scientists who want to take a leadership role?
Be aware and confident about your strength. Dare to be bold and try new things that interest you whenever you get a chance.
