- you are a leader... in what context?
I head a group of QPs, we are responsible for the release of Insulin drug substances to the market. In the past I had leadership positions in quality control, quality assurance, production and manufacturing of Insulins and Peptides.
- What is most important to you in leading?
Being credible and authentic and respectful – and having fun together
- What do you enjoy about it? Why?
I enjoy working with interdisciplinary teams like production, engineering, quality and process development.

- What were important steps on your way to leadership?
The first big career step from a small team in quality assurance to leading a production plant. I had to learn a lot of new things like HSE, HR, controlling, supply chain etc.
- From your perspective…How does being female contributes to your success in leadership?
Female leaders don´t shy away from problems. They solve it, as a rule without collateral damage.
- How does being a scientist contributes to your success in leadership?
Structured thinking, based on facts.
- What tips do you have for young female scientists who want to take a leadership role?
Networking with colleagues is essential. Look out for a mentor. Pick model behaviors that suit your personality. Rely on your own strength.
